Gustavo Ramírez Sansano – Flabbergast | 2002
The celebrated choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano – known for his contemporary version of Carmen – made a strong impression with Flabbergast. In this astonishing choreography, Sansano embraces his Spanish roots. Artistic Director Roel Voorintholt appreciates the lightness and playful wink of Flabbergast. The piece is expressive and musical. The dancers transport you to the atmosphere of the 1950s, dancing to the rhythm of Latin American music. They explore their desires, their identity, and above all each other. Combined with the exhilarating music of Mexican composer Juan García Esquivel, this creation forms the perfect finale to an energetic evening. Gustavo Ramírez Sansano: “The first version of Flabbergast was premiered by Luna Negra Dance Theater in 2001 in the United States. Now, for Introdans, I will rework it and ad one scene. It is a humorous piece that shows a journey where I play with stereotypes of my town culture. I would like to dedicate it to the person who taught me how to dance the ‘bayón’: my mother.”
Andonis Foniadakis – new creation | 2026
The choreography Selon désir by Andonis Foniadakis was one of the audience favorites in the 2023 Introdans BACH program. Now Foniadakis returns with a new creation made especially for the Introdans ensemble. Extreme suppleness and exuberant energy are constants in his work. Foniadakis empowers the dancers fully; vivid, dynamic, and infectious.
Aristide Rontini – new creation | 2026
For Aristide Rontini, inclusive creation and thinking form the foundation of his work. This Italian choreographer leads his own company, placing accessibility and all kinds of bodily realities at its center. From personal experience (his arms are differently proportioned) Rontini knows how important it is to set a new standard in dance and beyond. Themes in his work include identity, the relationship between the individual and the community, and between nature and culture. In 2023, Rontini was one of the choreographers of HubClub’23. At the invitation of Roel Voorintholt, he will create a new work for ENERGY. “We look forward to seeing what will emerge. In any case, it won’t be something obvious”, says Voorintholt.
Sofia Nappi – Tagadá | 2023
After the loving and humorous duet Kemet, which Sofia Nappi created for HubClub’23, Introdans once again collaborates with this fascinating choreographer. In 2021, Nappi received the Introdans Partner Award at the Rotterdam International Duet Choreography Competition (RIDCC). “Her work is very distinctive and theatrical; it communicates so well”, says Roel Voorintholt. This season, Introdans presents her successful group creation Tagadá, set to music of, amongst others, Daft Punk. Nappi uses the Italian fairground ride ‘tagadá’ as a metaphor for life. Sometimes we simply go round in circles, without having any control. We balance between uncertainty, fear, joy, and euphoria. In the unpredictability of life, connection with the people around you becomes an anchor.
