From dancer to artistic director
A life, not just about dance, a life about Introdans. In the 1982-1983 season Roel Voorintholt came to the troupe as a replacement for an injured dancer, where he danced in many ballets. In 1989 he was asked to set up an independent youth department and he became artistic director of the Ensemble for Youth and Introdans Interaction. Here he showed his talent and nose for quality. Roel Voorintholt has been the company’s artistic director since 2005 and has managed to bind countless world-renowned choreographers to Introdans.

‘Introdans is for everyone from the age of 6 through 106 years old. We put our heart, soul and a great deal of craftsmanship into making even more people and audiences excited about the art of dance’, says Roel Voorintholt. This is and will remain his ambition.

With an inimitable enthusiasm and without going off course, Voorintholt leads the company to this day, so that Introdans not only manages to attract more and more audiences, but has grown into one of the leading dance companies in the Netherlands and far beyond. Inclusion, participation and diversity are of paramount importance. Because we aim for a lasting relationship between dance, our company, and our audiences and we go the extra mile not to exclude anyone in this.
