The opening scene.

Sista1 – Adriaan Luteijn | performance Debbie Ruijter, Eva Eikhout
My inspiration for my duet for the HubClub comes from the 1920s nightclub in Berlin, where arts and entertainment crossovers took place at a time when everything was thought to be possible. In my experience, the two beautiful dancers are a pair of sisters who come to perform their dance act night after night and live for the night.

La Morte del Cigno – Mauro de Candia | performance Jillis Roshanali
In La Morte del Cigno, the Italian choreographer Mauro de Candia gives a strong male interpretation of The Dying Swan, the short solo that made the famous Russian ballerina Anna Pavlova immortal. This swan is a stubborn, proud beast that tries to make its way towards freedom with enormous animal strength, passion and flexibility.

Illusion – Perry Gits | performance Debbie Ruijter, Vincenzo Turiano
For me, the HubClub is the beauty of two worlds coming together, experimenting and enjoying each other’s art! My inspiration comes from the club culture, mainly from West Africa, Brooklyn and the rest of NYC and how dance and music are so important there for solidarity and giving/receiving energies.

HIS – Rutkay Özpinar
For a long time, Rutkay Özpinar thought he was the boy who couldn’t do anything. Now he knows that he is a creative person with a knack for mathematics who speaks an exceptional number of languages. This enables him to connect and even merge different worlds. That’s how he ended up doing an artistic research into his own roots. For His, he researched the sensually powerful Oryantal (belly dance), the heavy and repetitive Halay and the narrative and harmonic Zeybek.

Beloved Faded Memories – Jurriën Schobben | performance Eva Eikhout, Jillis Roshanali
As inspiration for my piece I have taken a specific feeling in the night. Everything is right; the people, the venue, the music. And your worries disappear as for now. I want to convey this feeling of bliss and letting go. For me, HubClub is an ode to being different. You can clearly see the different backgrounds and thoughts behind the theme of the night.

Shift – Thapelo Ben Kotlolo
For most of us young queers individuals club life is an important element of self-image. The club is a place of refuge, a protected space where we are able, and allowed, to enjoy a little freedom. The nightlife means an opportunity to become self or at least who and how we wish to be seen. While at the same time this is not always a true reflection of our day to day lives. The work will explore themes relating to queer bodies escaping into the night.

Unique (part 1) & Being (part 2) – Vincenzo Turiano
My inspiration for this choreography comes from the fact that I don’t think words like inclusion and diversity are right. In my view, ‘divers’ creates distance especially because it contains something of comparison. To me, ‘unique’ is much better a term because I am not ‘different’ from anyone or compared to anyone. I am unique and that is what we should all embrace and celebrate with pride. And we do that with HubClub!

Pro Forma-2 – Adriaan Luteijn| performance Eva Eikhout, Thapelo Ben Kotlolo
In September 2022 in South Africa, choreographer Adriaan Luteijn started with the creation of this duet for the Dutch dancer / TV presenter / podcast maker Eva Eikhout and the South African dancer Thapelo Kotlolo. It was a resounding success at the BODY MOVES International Inclusive Dance Festival in Benoni in October 2022.

A Sorority Tale – Rutkay Özpinar | performance Jillis Roshanali, Vincenzo Turiano en Rutkay Özpinar
We live in a world filled with judgments and opinions and at the HubClub that disappears. Everyone is as they are. That’s the beauty of the HubClub. This trio is about the femininity that lies within the man. Women can act masculine, but the other way around is still a taboo.

Sista2 – Adriaan Luteijn | performance Debbie Ruijter, Eva Eikhout & Finale | performance by all
