Introdans at Nederlandse Dansdagen 2023
Introdans will again be present at Nederlandse Dansdagen in Maastricht this year. This time with no fewer than two programmes.
On Friday, September 29, during Nederlandse Dansdagen Gala, we will present Beloved Faded Memories by Introdancer and choreographer Jurriën Schobben, a duet he previously made for the HubClub’23. On this festive opening evening of the festival, our country’s most important dance prizes will be awarded.
On Saturday September 30, Introdans will be in the Masterpieces programme with the choreography Kaash by Akram Khan. In this programme, with works by Dutch National Ballet, Introdans, Scapino Ballet Rotterdam, Nederlands Dans Theater and ISH, the richness of Dutch dance can be experienced in its full breadth. It is the only time of the year when the top companies can be admired on one stage.
Every year, Nederlandse Dansdagen brings the top of Dutch dance to Maastricht to celebrate its unprecedented diversity and quality with the public. From classical ballet to urban, from avant-garde to modern dance, from master to young talent and from performance art to dance for a young audience.

Beloved Faded Memories – Jurriën Schobben | Friday September 29th
Introdans dancer and choreographer Jurriën Schobben created this duet for HubClub’23, an inclusive dance programme that premiered this spring. The duet will be shown again during Nederlandse Dansdagen, as part of the Gala. It is danced by Eva Eikhout, TV presenter at BNN/VARA, podcast maker and dancer, together with Introdans dancer Jillis Roshanali. “I took a specific feeling in the night as inspiration for my piece. Everything is right; the people, the venue, the music. And your worries disappear for a moment. I would like to convey this feeling of bliss and letting go. For me, the HubClub is an ode to being different. You clearly see the different backgrounds and thoughts behind the theme of the night,” says Jurriën Schobben. The HubClub celebrates the power of human uniqueness with a contemporary dance programme. Various choreographers from home and abroad created new work and worked with the classically modern trained Introdans dancers and a colourful group of guest dancers from different worlds.
Kaash – Akram Kahn
FALL opens with Akram Khan’s Kaash, which created an absolute sensation at its world premiere in 2002 and made the British-Bengali choreographer famous virtually overnight. As a spectator you feel as if stepping into a story as Khan leads you into his special cosmos, in a swirling mix of Indian Kathak dance and contemporary dance. The dancers use their feet as percussion instruments while their arms cut razor-sharp through the air. Turner Prize winner Anish Kapoor created the impressive stage design and Nitin Sawhney (who has written songs for many well-known pop stars) composed the driving Indian music. Besides Introdans and Khan’s own group, there are only two other companies worldwide with permission to perform this work.
