On August 28, 2026, Introdans will present the duet The Mirror by choreographer Fernando Melo at At Festival delle arti coreutiche – ARTFEST in Venosa, Italy.
The Mirror by choreographer Fernando Melo explores the idea of reflection and perspective. Two dancers face each other and perform movements that appear mirrored, even though there is no real mirror on stage. Is the mirror between them, or is it created by the way we look at them? The work plays with this question by gently distorting the image and shifting how we see movement.
In The Mirror, the interaction between the dancers and the scenography creates a new way of seeing the body in space. The piece challenges our sense of gravity and plays with changing viewpoints. Movements may seem slower, heavier, or slightly unreal. The dancers reach toward each other, searching for connection, but often appear to be pulled apart by an invisible force. This creates a simple but powerful image of human relationships — the desire to connect and the distance that sometimes remains.
