Introdans will perform in Masterpieces (Meesterwerken) during the Dutch Dance Days 2024. An evening-filling programme with works by the four top companies in the country.
This evening we will present SH-BOOM!, one of the earliest works from the oeuvre of the leading choreographer duo Paul Lightfoot and Sol León, who had success for many years with Nederlands Dans Theater. They drew their inspiration from the satirical black-and-white drawings of the Spanish painter Francisco de Goya. And just as they did so wonderfully and compellingly in their later oeuvre, in this gem they already succeed in combining the dark (irony) and light sides (humor) of life in a masterful way. SH-BOOM!, set to popular songs from the 1930s and 1940s, transports you, as it were, to a theatrical hall of mirrors, in which the ladies dance in flowy dresses and the gentlemen – literally – stand in their underwear.
The work of Lightfoot & León is danced all over the world and they have received various dance prizes for their creations. Introdans danced the ballet for the first time last year during End of Season 2023.
Dutch Dance is rich in diversity. This wealth can be experienced in its full breadth during Masterpieces (Meesterwerken), because this is the only time of the year when the top companies can be admired on one stage. You will see Nederlands Dans Theater, Het Nationale Ballet, Introdans and Scapino Ballet Rotterdam together on one stage.
An excellent opportunity for dance lovers to experience the best that Dutch dance currently has to offer.
