After the succes of last two years, we will present a special dance programme created especially for Zwarte Cross festival 2025.
Three – Robert Battle
Three by American choreographer Robert Battle (former artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) is a hilarious and athletic powerhouse in which three men unleash themselves in a ‘muscle-jam session.’ This results in uninhibited movements, always executed with a precision that borders on the impossible. A brilliant and absolute fusion of hip-hop, breakdance, and modern dance. Sharpness is never lacking, physical control is outstanding, the joy is palpable, and the focus is unparalleled.
Lazarus – Oona Doherty
Lazarus, by Irish choreographer Oona Doherty, explores the scars we all carry. A choreography about fighting for what you believe in and being true to yourself. This powerful performance for six dancers is bursting with rage, bravado, and humanity. It dismantles stereotypes of masculinity and femininity and finds beauty at the edges of existence. It invites the audience to look beyond the mask of ego and appearances.
Song of the Lands – Jurriën Schobben
A duet from the choreography by former Introdans dancer and choreographer Jurriën Schobben, set to music by pianist-composer Rami Khalifé. Created for the Piano Biennale, this new work is part of the inspiring project Songs of Travel, which explores themes such as climate change, migration, and human resilience.
