After the succes of last two years, we will present a special dance programme created especially for Zwarte Cross festival 2025.
Three Squared – Robert Battle
Three Squared by American choreographer Robert Battle (former artistic director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater) is a hilarious and athletic powerhouse in which six dancers unleash themselves in a ‘muscle-jam session.’ This results in uninhibited movements, always executed with a precision that borders on the impossible. A brilliant and absolute fusion of hip-hop, breakdance, and modern dance. In this version with six dancers, nothing lacks sharpness: the physical control is superb, the joy is palpable, and the focus is unmatched.
Lazarus – Oona Doherty
Lazarus, by Irish choreographer Oona Doherty, explores the scars we all carry. A choreography about fighting for what you believe in and being true to yourself. This powerful performance for seven dancers is bursting with rage, bravado, and humanity. It dismantles stereotypes of masculinity and femininity and finds beauty at the edges of existence. It invites the audience to look beyond the mask of ego and appearances.
Song of the Lands – Jurriën Schobben
A duet from the choreography by former Introdans dancer and choreographer Jurriën Schobben, set to music by pianist-composer Rami Khalifé. Created for the Piano Biennale, this new work is part of the inspiring project Songs of Travel, which explores themes such as climate change, migration, and human resilience.
In addition to the performance, we also offer a workshop Ballet for Beginners!
Join in! In between all the music, crossfit, and stunts, test your flexibility with this workshop Ballet for Beginners! Mironne Gerritsen has been a teacher at Introdans for many years and gets everyone dancing! Whether you can dance or not, in just half an hour you’ll learn a lot about ballet. You’ll get introduced to the five foot positions, master a perfectly executed plié, a port de bras with your arms, a rond de jambe with your legs, and finish beautifully balanced. In this crash course, Mironne will take you into the world of modern ballet and Introdans. How do the dancers train, how did they get to this level, and what goes through their minds right before a show?
