Do you have a child who dances (or maybe not :)? Then it’s highly recommended to take them to a ballet performance to introduce them to professional dance. And what could be better than a real fairy tale? The Nutcracker by Introdans, with its beautiful costumes and enchanting story, is a must-see performance! But don’t dive in unprepared – read below to find out why :).
The Nutcracker – A Fairy Tale!
The theater is a magical place. Every time you step inside, you feel the special atmosphere and connection to our past. Stage performances have existed for as long as we can remember, creating connection and entertainment. It’s something entirely different from watching a movie on a screen! It’s a magical world by and for people – very real and tangible. Especially now, a theater performance is something every child should experience at least once. That’s why we’ve put together a list of the best child-friendly theater performances this season. One of them is The Nutcracker.
Such Beautiful Dancing!
Attending a dance performance with your son or daughter is a wonderful experience. And The Nutcracker has it all: stunning dance, beautiful costumes, and an equally beautiful story, with its own interpretation. From beginning to end, we were completely immersed in the story – a special achievement, especially for children! And the fun part: there’s even a real intermission where we could share what we had seen (and of course, take a quick bathroom break). A break is helpful for children’s focus.
The story of The Nutcracker follows Marie, who grows and develops through various adventures. At the start, she moves shyly and awkwardly, but as the story progresses, she gains confidence. Her final dance with the prince is spectacular. The story is very relatable for children – who doesn’t feel uncertain at times? Adolescence is a challenging period filled with ups and downs. Not everything goes smoothly for Marie, but she emerges stronger by overcoming obstacles with the help of others.
Can You Get All of That from the Dance?
If you attend unprepared, probably not! That’s why it’s important to discuss the story with your child beforehand. It’s a wonderful fairy tale to read aloud. If your child knows the story, they will understand the dance better. A summary of the story can also be found in the program booklet, and the intermission can be used to reconnect with the story or visit the interactive Experium in the foyer.
Enjoy Watching
Even if your child doesn’t fully grasp the storyline, they will still enjoy the beautiful music (by Tchaikovsky!), the costumes (sometimes a little spooky), and the stunning dance, which even includes humor. Still can’t imagine it? Then that’s even more reason to experience it for yourself! The Nutcracker is performed in various theaters across the country. We hope everyone gets the chance to see it!
