Yesterday, we had the opportunity to present our project Scalabor Bruist during the New Year’s reception of the Municipality of Arnhem. Despite the challenges posed by the weather, the message was clear. Marcel Hielkema of Scalabor expressed it beautifully:
“I am truly super proud of everyone here. We are bringing three worlds together: the world of dance with Introdans, the students from ArtEZ, and my colleagues from Scalabor.
Imagine this: these are people who had never danced like this before and often lacked self-confidence. And now, tonight, they’re performing three times. All I hear are positive reactions. People are saying, ‘We don’t see any difference between the students and the employees of Scalabor.’”
And that is exactly what inclusion at Introdans is all about: showing how dance not only moves people but also creates connections and brings them closer together.
Of course, the speech by Mayor Ahmed Marcouch from the Gele Molen also made a strong impression:
“Peace and freedom are inextricably linked to existential security. Because existential security is not just about income, but also about safety. About reliable and affordable energy. About caring for nature and the climate. And about fair immigration policies.
Existential security is the foundation of a solid democratic rule of law. The city administration contributes to this wholeheartedly.”
