Extra festive edition
The Dansersfonds’79 of former ballet stars Alexandra Radius and Han Ebbelaar has been around for 45 years and will celebrate this in November with an extra festive edition of the Dutch Ballet Gala.
Introdans – Cantata (finale)
In this earthy and passionate “power piece,” choreographer Mauro Bigonzetti vividly brings to life the various characters of an Italian village, inspired by the infectious, raw energy of Italian music. In this final section, men and women engage in the traditional Pizzica dance, blending powerful ensemble dances with stunning duets. The mood shifts between dramatic and melancholic, and at times light and humorous. As a spectator, it’s hard not to be moved by this exuberant ode to southern folk culture, love, and perhaps most of all, madness.
Mauro Bigonzetti has led prestigious companies such as the Ballet de la Scala in Milan and works as a freelance choreographer for ballet companies in and outside Europe, including major institutions like the Moscow Bolshoi Ballet, English National Ballet, Stuttgart Ballet, New York City Ballet, and Les Grands Ballets Canadiens.
Introdans – Bye Bye Land
Showtime! The lively Bye Bye Land, created by renowned musical and theater choreographer Daan Wijnands (known for Hij gelooft in mij, Hello Dolly, All Stars, and Alex Klaassens’ Showponies), is a brand-new ballet specially choreographed for Introdans’ End of Season Gala 2024. This vibrant, revue-like choreography is centered around the theme of saying goodbye, serving as an homage to MGM film musicals with a delightful 1950s vibe, set to music from the film La La Land.
Trained as a dancer, Daan Wijnands transitioned into musical theater and has become one of the most successful choreographers in the genre. His inspiration for this choreography comes from the way Introdans connects with other performers and creators from different artistic worlds. The result is an energetic and playful choreography that is sure to entertain.
