In the context of encouraging inclusivity, we again worked with labor development company Scalabor and students from ArtEZ on the “Scalabor Bruist Verder” project in the autumn of 2022.
The idea behind Scalabor Bruist Verder is that everyone can dance, regardless of age or physical limitation. For a week, students from ArtEZ worked on a dance together with employees from Scalabor and the Introdans interaction team led by Adriaan Luteijn (choreographer and Interaction & Inclusion Coordinator at Introdans). Exchange, acceptance, love and openness were central. The presentation took place at Scalabor on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
Scalabor Bruist is a collaborative project between Introdans and Scalabor in the context of the Introdans Great Connection Plan 2021-2024, and is made possible by the Fund for Cultural Participation and the Doen/Vriendenloterijfonds Foundation.
Project: September 12-16, 2022
Location: Scalabor, Arnhem
Adriaan Luteijn: “What I think is most important to convey: dance and expressing yourself creatively through movement suits everyone. This should not be fixed within the framework of a certain type of body, a person’s background, opportunities in life, possible backpack, gender or physical condition. With this in mind I also ended up at Scalabor. They are one of the many parties we work with to reach people from the social domain. When making modern dance productions, I have discovered over the years that you can make great things with people from all levels of society. On the one hand we have our classically trained dancers who belong to the absolute world top, and on the other hand there are people on stage that the audience does not expect in the theater. Bringing two completely different worlds together produces interesting artistic chemistry for me as a maker.”
