Low-stimuli reception at Less is More by Introdans in Musis
October 31, 2025
Meditative dance programme with low-stimulus facilities on 14 and 15 November in Arnhem
Low-stimulus night out! During the new programme Less is More by Introdans, Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem will offer a special low-stimulus reception on Friday 14 and Saturday 15 November for visitors who are sensitive to stimuli. This performance is particularly well suited for that purpose, thanks to the contemplative programme curated by artistic director Roel Voorintholt – himself experienced with sensory sensitivity. People with, for example, a neurodivergent brain or acquired brain injury can register for the low-stimulus reception. They can make use of, among other things, a separate entrance, a quiet reception area before and during the intermission, a silent spot on the balcony, and, if desired, personal assistance.
More information can be found on the website of Musis & Stadstheater Arnhem.

The art of omission
We all experience stimuli differently. Artistic director Roel Voorintholt knows from personal experience what it means to be neurodivergent. It sparked his appreciation for the art of omission. “There’s an abundance of everything — society is so full of stimuli these days! More than ten years ago, I suffered a cerebral hemorrhage myself. Less is More was born when I returned to the theatre after my rehabilitation. It felt like coming home, but I also noticed how overwhelming everything was. When you have a neurodivergent brain, everything hits you harder. You experience stimuli more intensely and need more calm to unwind. That’s why I wanted to create a programme that truly embodies the idea that ‘less is more’. The good news is that after more than ten years, I hardly suffer from it anymore, but many people are still very sensitive to stimuli. That’s why I think it’s so wonderful that our partner Musis & Stadstheater is offering these facilities! I invite everyone to take in and breathe in this meditative programme, and to make use of these facilities at Musis. In a world that’s becoming ever faster, fuller, and more restless, this offers a soothing space for stillness and reflection – even though the dance is certainly not all in slow motion,” jokes Roel Voorintholt.
Low-stimulus reception: entering the theatre at ease
The special reception for visitors with sensory sensitivity is part of the ongoing efforts by Musis & Stadstheater and Introdans to make dance and culture accessible to everyone.
On 14 and 15 November, Roel Voorintholt will give a short introduction for visitors who have registered for this experience. Musis & Stadstheater recognises that people who are sensitive to stimuli often struggle with the crowds in the foyers, queues at the box office, ticket checks, or the bar. “With these special facilities, we want to remove all those stressors surrounding the performance, so people know exactly what to expect and can enter the auditorium without feeling overstimulated,” says Yvonne Vendrig, Coordinator Theatre & City at Musis & Stadstheater.
Those who wish to use the low-stimulus facilities can register until 7 November by contacting the theatre by phone.
