From 29 to 31 August, Apeldoorn will be the beating heart of culture-loving Netherlands. Introdans is proud to perform on Saturday 30 August during DE OPENING, the new national kick-off of the cultural season.

After 45 years of Uitmarkt in Amsterdam, the official start of the cultural season will now travel to a different city each year. Apeldoorn has the honour of hosting the very first edition of this free festival. Expect a vibrant weekend full of dance, music, visual arts and connection — spread throughout the city.

Our performance is part of a rich and diverse programme, in which Apeldoorn literally becomes the stage. Green parks, royal avenues and cultural landmarks will serve as the backdrop for performances and pop-up shows.

Introdans presents Petricor by Lucinda Childs: a crystal-clear choreography set to music by Ludovico Einaudi.

About Petricor (2018)
Petricor (“the scent released when rain falls on dry earth”) is the third piece the “queen of minimal dance” created for Introdans in 2018. Childs was inspired by the composition of the same name by Ludovico Einaudi, known for his music in the French hit film Intouchables. The result is a complex yet featherlight choreography of repeating classical dance movements, placed delicately in space. The ingenious mathematical patterns created by Childs are also visualised in the set design by French artist Dominique Drillot — abstract works of art that emphasise the brilliance of the choreography.
