Introdans mourns the passing of choreographer Krisztina de Châtel

With great sadness, Introdans has learned of the passing of Dutch-Hungarian choreographer Krisztina de Châtel. She died on Tuesday, June 3, at the age of 81 in her home in Amsterdam. De Châtel leaves behind an impressive and influential body of work that has left a lasting mark on the Dutch dance landscape.

This spring, Introdans restaged her iconic piece Typhoon (1986), a choreography that has lost none of its power and relevance nearly four decades after its creation. The performance was received with great acclaim by both press and audiences. “A moving image of determined resistance” and “De Châtel’s Typhoon has only grown in strength.”

We are grateful that Krisztina was able to reprise Typhoon with us, and that we had the opportunity to share the work of this remarkable choreographer with a new generation of dancers and audiences.

Krisztina attended several performances and was deeply pleased with the result. She expressed her hope that Typhoon would once again inspire reflection and resilience in these turbulent times.

Introdans honours her with deep admiration for her tenacity, artistic vision, and boundless energy.
