A Filetta and Introdans together in the studio

March 19, 2026

Yesterday, we had the honour of welcoming A Filetta for the first studio rehearsals. This remarkable all-male singing group from Corsica performs traditional music in a contemporary way and is known for its powerful polyphonic singing.

A Filetta was founded in 1978 by a group of young singers driven by a strong desire to preserve Corsica’s oral musical heritage. What started as a mission to protect a disappearing tradition has grown into an impressive international journey filled with collaborations and artistic encounters. That openness is still at the heart of their work: their music moves freely between tradition and innovation, across disciplines and alongside other artists.

The sextet consists of Jean-Claude Acquaviva, Paul Giansily, Jean-Luc Geronimi, Jean Sicurani, Maxime Vuillamier and Ceccè Acquaviva. Together, they create a unique soundscape that is deeply rooted in ancient traditions while feeling strikingly contemporary.

Their collaboration with choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui is well established. They have previously worked together on creations such as Apocrifu, Puz/zle and, of course, In Memoriam. In these works, their music plays an essential role in shaping the emotional and physical experience on stage.

During the upcoming performances of LARBI in Utrecht on Friday 20 and Saturday 21, A Filetta will perform live alongside our dancers. A special encounter between voice and movement, where tradition and contemporary dance come together.

A Filetta’s music is more than singing. It is a journey: layered, daring and intense. An invitation to let go of boundaries and be carried by sound, breath and presence.

We are very much looking forward to this special collaboration and can’t wait to share it with you.
