Introdans presents the 2025–2026 season

Dance heritage in motion, contemporary classics, and virtuoso new choreographies

Silent and meditative or grand and exuberant, to the sounds of minimal music, Beethoven, or Saturday Night Fever—Introdans presents itself in top form for the 2025–2026 theatre season.
With a fresh perspective on classics and contemporary encounters, the new dance season revolves around resilience and the joy of life. The season kicks off in September with Less is More, a programme combining gems from the company’s repertoire with brand-new choreographies. Less is More includes work by Hans van Manen, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Lucinda Childs, and world premieres by Fernando Melo, Igor Bacovich, and Iratxe Ansa.

The winter months are filled with passion, temperament, and groove. The successful family show Carmen returns—choreographed by Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, it’s a modern take on the classical opera tale. The disco hit Pink Panther Party—a new version with an inclusive cast—gets everyone dancing into the winter season.

In spring, Introdans shines a spotlight on choreographer Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui with its annual focus programme—no fewer than seven of his works are now in the company’s repertoire. Also returning is HubClub—a celebration of dance power from diverse bodies and minds. This time with pieces by choreographers Conny Janssen, Inbal Pinto, Fernando Melo, and Jordy Dik, who will reimagine their works for a vibrant cast of performers from different worlds. The season wraps up with End of Season 2026, bringing old and new works together in a festive finale.

Artistic Director Roel Voorintholt:
“Season 2025–2026 promises once again to bring dance magic for everyone—for our loyal audiences and curious newcomers. Whether it’s serene simplicity, raw emotion, or exuberant zest for life—each programme invites you into new worlds and timeless beauty. Familiar names, classics, and premieres—Introdans keeps moving with performances that touch and connect, for all generations.”

In addition to performances in theatres, Introdans will also appear at many other events throughout the season, including Dutch Dance Days, Zwarte Cross, Uitnacht Arnhem, Kunstnacht Nijmegen, Vondelpark Open Air Theatre, Bridge to Liberation, Utrecht Queer Culture Festival, Dancers Fund Gala, and ZinK Festival at the Kröller-Müller Museum.

PROGRAMME 2025–2026

Less is More – A Fascinating, Meditative, Minimalist Dance Programme
Introdans opens the season with Less is More: a restrained and joyful dance programme, embodying simplicity, calm, and momentum. A night of living dance heritage by iconic choreographers Hans van Manen, Lucinda Childs, and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui—plus new work by a young generation of international creators: Igor Bacovich, Iratxe Ansa, and Fernando Melo. Each in their own way, they master the art of leaving things out.

We all experience stimuli differently. Artistic director Roel Voorintholt has been living with neurodivergence for 10 years, which deepened his love for minimalism. Squares by Hans van Manen, in the repertoire for 30 years, excels in simplicity. Canto Ostinato by Lucinda Childs enchants with repetition and structure. New works by Fernando Melo and the duo Bacovich & Ansa feature powerful gestures and lyrical forms. The programme closes with a segment from Fractus V by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.

Pink Panther Party – Groove – Glitter – Good Vibes
Pink Panther Party immerses the audience in the inclusive disco culture of the 1970s. For over 50 years, Introdans has aimed to make dance accessible to as many people as possible. This vibrant dance party features a fusion of styles and dancers from various backgrounds. The expanded cast includes over 20 dancers: classically trained Introdans dancers and guest performers from other dance and performance worlds, both young and seasoned talents. Choreography by Adriaan Luteijn and Chantal de Vries. Performed in Arnhem and Nijmegen.

Carmen – A Modern Classic for the Whole Family (Ages 6–106)
Following its success in 2022, Carmen returns for the winter season. This family-friendly full-length dance production by Spanish choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano is based on the classic opera story—a gripping tale of love and the destructive power of jealousy, performed with passion and flair. The full Introdans ensemble shines in this refreshed classic, set against Picasso-like décor and beautiful costumes. Includes a special interactive Carmen Experium in theatre foyers.

HubClub’26 – A Celebration of Unique Dance Power
HubClub is a joyful showcase of unexpected dance talent where people shine through their uniqueness. Following its successful 2023 edition, Introdans returns with a performance celebrating diverse bodies and minds. Acclaimed choreographers Conny Janssen, Fernando Melo, Inbal Pinto, and Jordy Dik, along with Introdans’ Adriaan Luteijn, are paired with a dazzling cast of Introdans dancers and guest performers from various social, physical, and artistic worlds. These choreographers are invited to rework existing pieces for this unique ensemble, breathing new life into their creations. Premieres at Holland Dance Festival in The Hague, followed by performances in theatres across the country.

Larbi – A Tribute to Resilience
Each spring, Introdans spotlights one choreographer. In 2026, the focus is on Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Larbi is a deep dive into his distinctive style and a tribute to resilience. His virtuosic dance language, musicality, and ability to embrace stillness are a perfect match for Introdans. The programme features Fall, In Memoriam, and a new solo for dancer Marc Brew—Cherkaoui previously collaborated with Brew on Crash. For this programme, Cherkaoui is also reworking Fall into a new version for Introdans.

Youth Production – Coproduction with Introdans, Musis, Theater Oostpool, and Phion
In May 2026, Introdans, Musis, Theater Oostpool, and Phion (Orchestra of Gelderland & Overijssel) team up again for a large-scale youth production. Young performers, dancers, and musicians from Arnhem and the surrounding region will collaborate on an interdisciplinary show blending dance, theatre, and live music into one compelling performance. Youth aged 15–25, with or without stage experience, will have the chance to share their creativity and passion. Participants from various backgrounds will come together—ranging from hip-hop and classical ballet to amateur theatre and music. Guided by experienced makers, they’ll create a performance that centers on personal stories and current themes.

End of Season 2026 – Swinging into Summer
A festive End of Season programme in full black-and-white style, with dazzling, energetic choreography. The evening features highlights from recent repertoire, unexpected encounters, and guest appearances. New creators will be introduced, and special guest dancers will perform. The programme also reflects on collaborative projects with artists and organisations from other disciplines. For dancers retiring or moving abroad, End of Season is the moment to shine one last time. Audiences are invited to dress in black and white to match the vibe. The programme includes work by Po-Cheng Tsai, Lightfoot & León, Robert Battle, David Parsons, Adriaan Luteijn, and Chantal de Vries.

Interaction & Education – Dance Power for Everyone
Through our interactive and educational activities, we share our dance power each year with thousands of schoolchildren, youth, neighbourhood residents, people distanced from the job market, vulnerable elderly, and individuals with intellectual or physical disabilities. Introdans believes in empowerment through dance—it opens up worlds and connects people to their imagination and to each other. Since the company’s founding in 1971, we’ve been driven by a mission to use dance for social impact. This motivation is in our DNA—just like our belief that everyone should be accepted just as they are. In the 2025–2026 season, we’ll run projects for a wide range of target groups, in collaboration with partners such as Scalabor, SWOA, Pro Persona, Liemerije, DrieGasthuizenGroep, Presikhaaf University, Kröller-Müller Museum and Museum Arnhem.
