The power of dance for everyone

Dance brings people together. Whether you are young or old, with or without a disability, dance creates joy, energy, and connection. After the success of The Great Connection Plan, in which we brought together all our interactive dance projects in a sustainable way over four years, we are now building on that foundation with a new project: The Dance Connection++. This is once again a four-year programme, offering various dance projects for a range of target groups, through which we give shape to our motto the power of dance for everyone. This project is made possible in part by the VriendenLoterij Fund. Marieke van ’t Hoff, Managing Director of Introdans: “We are incredibly grateful for the support of the VriendenLoterij Fund. Thanks to them, we can share the power of Introdans with even more people. We’re increasing our impact and contributing to a more inclusive society.”

More Dance for More People
The Dance Connection++ aims to make dance accessible to as many people as possible. The programme, launching in spring 2025, focuses on two main pillars: Society and Artistic Development.

Society: Dance as a Tool for Social Connection
Introdans is launching various projects that use dance to connect people and support personal growth. One example is the Pro Persona Project, titled IKoon, where Introdans explores how dance can benefit people with psychological challenges, such as anxiety disorders. Participants take part in an intensive dance week that culminates in a final performance. The project is all about empowerment, joy, building social structures, physical activation, and the courage to express oneself. The participants’ families are also involved. In short, it’s a positive experience that can open doors and help further stimulate mental development.

Artistic Development: Inclusive Dance Performances
Introdans also creates dance performances where everyone can participate, showcasing the diversity of our society. One example is HubClub’26, which brings together people of all ages, cultures, and abilities. Introdans dancers and guest performers from a variety of physical, social, and dance backgrounds come together in a full-length choreography. With beautiful costumes and contemporary pieces, it’s a festive evening full of unexpected dance qualities, where people shine because of their uniqueness—and where everyone feels welcome. In 2027, HubClub Junior will follow.

Eva Eikhout, BNNVARA presenter, who has a different physical reality and is one of the guest performers in HubClub’23 and HubClub’26, shares:
“People often assume that because of your disability, you can’t dance. So they don’t even ask you to try. That’s why I found it so wonderful and cool to be challenged in this way at the HubClub. Even if just one person in the audience walks away seeing this kind of dance and these kinds of bodies differently—that’s already a win.”

An Inclusive Society
Yu-Lan van Alphen, Programme Manager at the VriendenLoterij Fund: “The VriendenLoterij Fund supports initiatives that strive for a society where everyone can participate and everyone matters. The Dance Connection++ is a beautiful example of that. With this project, Introdans is making it possible for more people to enjoy the power of dance.”

The VriendenLoterij Fund supports Introdans thanks to the participants of the VriendenLoterij.
