Juliette Jean

Juliette Jean started dancing at the age of three. “I joined my friends once and enjoyed it so much that I kept taking dance lessons.” At the age of twelve, she knew for sure: she wanted to dance for the rest of her life. She was accepted into the École Nationale Supérieure de Danse de Marseille, where she spent six years studying ballet and contemporary dance. From a young age, she lived independently in a boarding house in Marseille, far from her family.
“I believed that if I just kept practicing hard, I could become a good dancer. I was quite competitive”. At seventeen, Juliette auditioned for Ballet Junior de Genève. During the following three years, she worked with several choreographers and discovered a wide range of dance styles. She then worked as a freelancer on various projects in different countries. “I see myself as a versatile dancer, and I enjoy the variety.”
Her first contract was with Titoyaya Dansa, led by choreographer Gustavo Ramírez Sansano, where she danced in Carmen.maquia. When Introdans began performing the work, Juliette joined the company as a guest dancer. She was later offered a permanent contract, which she is very happy about. “What I like about Introdans is that I also get to work with many choreographers, but within one company and in one place.”
For Juliette, dance is her passion and her whole life. She wouldn’t want it any other way. She enjoys the focus that dance requires and the awareness of her body, including the physical challenge and sometimes even the pain. “I feel good when I dance; that’s when I am completely myself.” What makes a performance special for Juliette is the energy between the dancers and the connection with the audience. “To give everything you have to an enthusiastic audience who enjoys what you do and then gives you a standing ovation is indescribable. In my opinion, that is the best gift”.
