Giuliana Sollami started dancing at the age of three. As a little girl, she would spend hours dancing in front of the television until her mother decided to take her to a dance class. “I was very young, but I knew I wanted to keep dancing.”

At the age of twelve, she moved from Sicily to northern Italy, where she continued her dance training at the School of Balletto di Castelfranco Veneto. She then continued her training in the Netherlands at Codarts Rotterdam, graduating cum laude in July 2021. She began her professional career as an intern with Theater Luzern in Switzerland, followed by Theater Basel. She then worked as a freelance dancer before joining Introdans in January 2026.

In other dancers, Giuliana particularly admires their presence, precision and quality of movement. She finds it special when their personality becomes visible through the way they dance. “The dancers who stay with me are the ones who can reach somewhere deeper in you, beyond what you are simply seeing.”

For Giuliana, dance is also a way of understanding herself and what is around her. “I think the body understands a lot. Sometimes you can experience something physically that would be very difficult to explain with words.” She is drawn to the fact that dance does not necessarily need to explain something. On stage, she can become completely absorbed in what she is doing. Movement, music, space and the people around her then seem to become part of the same thing.

At Introdans, Giuliana enjoys a wide variety of movement styles. In a single day, she can work on three or four completely different pieces. “I like that challenge, having to shift quickly and understand what each piece needs from me.” The variety keeps her alert and curious and means she never feels stuck in one way of dancing.
