Sofia Baglietto

Born: 2000, Italy
Education: Ekodance International School

Sofia started dancing at the age of 11, when her mother brought her to her first ballet school in Genoa (Italy) after Sofia insisted for many years. Sofia immediately understood she wanted to do this every day and joined many summer courses and programs, studying with different teachers from all over the world. At the age of 16, she moved to Turin (Italy) and started studying at Ekodance International School with Pompea Santoro. After graduating, she joined Ekodance Project, also directed by Santoro. She has always been Sofia’s main inspiration, and it is thanks to her that Sofia is now a guest dancer at Introdans.

While dancing, Sofia feels free to fully express herself in the only possible way. She always feels like she is in the right place. Sofia loves the constant challenge that dance gives her and the way it encourages her to always be a better version of herself. Another big inspiration for Sofia is Mats Ek: “being able to study and dance his repertory helped me understand the type of dancer I wanted to be.” When performing on stage, Sofia is always very scared and excited at first, but soon the fear disappears and she is able to enjoy herself. She loves the unique atmosphere on stage and the energy of the audience that gives her strength and courage.

In the 2021/2022 season, Sofia is a guest dancer in Karole Armitage’s choreography Rave in the family performance Confetti. Sofia really likes the professional environment of Introdans and the fact that there are so many people and amazing dancers to get inspired by. She feels very lucky to be able to train and dance with Introdans and she feels this experience is already making her grow.
