Rowley Silver Hughne

Born: 1999, Curaçao
Education: RijnIJssel | Studio26, Arnhem

As a child, Rowley was always moving. He taught himself new tricks all the time and impressed others with the illusions he could create with his body. The interest in dance outweighed his broad interest in skating, martial arts, singing and writing, so he started taking dance lessons at various dance schools in Rotterdam. Here he discovered his talent for dance, after which he decided to study Urban Dancer at RijnIJssel | Studio26 in Arnhem. “I went there to find out how I can make my dream come true. I learned a lot and got to know a lot of people. So this has been one of the best choices of my life,” said Rowley.

Rowley specializes in hip-hop and other urban dance styles. This distinguishes him from the classically trained dancers of Introdans: “It sometimes seems like a completely different world, but that actually ensures that I grow and improve. It is very inspiring to see what everyone at Introdans can do!” In addition, Rowley likes to be inspired by dancers, choreographers and (former) teachers such as Steven Lima, Hassani and Argil Le Couvreur, Revo Dhesi, Milly Trouerbach and Ruben Chi.
The feeling Rowley has when he is on stage is always different. He has all kinds of thoughts and feelings when he dances, but most of all he is grateful for the fact that his dream of becoming a professional dancer has come true. Dance is also a way for Rowley to express himself. He uses his body as a means to entertain people and tell them what is going on in his head. “For me, dance is a way of connecting. With others, but also with myself.”

In the 2021/2022 season, Rowley is a guest dancer in Karole Armitage’s choreography Rave and Ruben Chi’s new creation for the family performance Confetti. At the beginning of this season, he also danced in the disco dance performance Pink Panther Party.
