Born:
1999, Gijón (Spain)
Education:
Conservatorio Profesional de Música y Danza de Gijón (Spain) and Codarts, Rotterdam (The Netherlands)
Pablo already showed an immense interest for scenic arts at a very young age, and he had a natural talent and sensibility for dance. “My parents own a theatre company, so I basically grew up in the theatre and rehearsal studios. And of course, this fascinated me.” If Pablo wasn’t at the theatre to see theatre plays or dance performances with his parents, he was putting on dance performances himself at home.
And so it was no surprise that Pablo started studying at the conservatory of Gijón at the age of 13. “I enrolled in the conservatoire to study music, but I completely hated it. I remember watching the dance students in the corridors and through the windows. I kept feeling so jealous, so I eventually dropped out of music and started studying dance. After this, the conservatory building went from being my least favorite place to my safe space where I felt happiest.”
After graduating in 2018, Pablo decided to continue his studies at Codarts in Rotterdam (The Netherlands). In the 2021/2022 season, he will be joining Introdans as an intern. Pablo is really enjoying his time at Introdans. He loves the diversity of the repertory, and he feels like Introdans offers a great range of styles to both the audience and the dancers. “It’s a true pleasure to walk into the studios and I am extremely grateful for this chance to keep developing as a dancer.”
Pablo feels powerful when performing on stage. It gives him a sense of reality and certainty and he truly enjoys the confidence that comes when he feels prepared and he feels like he can trust his body. For Pablo, dance is like a natural instinct: without second guessing or looking for answers. Of course, he feels fed up with dancing sometimes, but he found a great solution to that: “whenever dance gets me frustrated, I just dance a bit more and suddenly everything is better!”
