Karolien Janssen

Karolien janssen has worked almost her entire working life as a freelancer in her own furniture workshop. She was born and raised in Nijmegen, where she attended horticultural school and furniture maker training. Before she started her furniture workshop, she previously worked at the Gelderlander and in coffee shops. She has always been a bit rebellious and used to want to be a boy, she has let go of this but still cherishes it. She is a nature person and grows her own vegetables, she also works with children from group 4 in a school garden where she enthuses them and teaches them to experience the process from sowing to harvest. At the age of 58, Karolien came into contact with dance by participating in the production ‘pink cast’ by choreographer Adriaan Luteijn. Because of this, as she calls it, a ‘dance hatch’ has opened in her, she can no longer do without it.
