Joseph Tebandeke is a Ugandan dancer and choreographer known for his inclusive and transformative approach to dance and movement. His work focuses on using art to tackle social challenges, with a strong emphasis on reinterpreting notions of ability. Tebandeke has performed and collaborated internationally in venues such as Kampnagal Hamburg (“Mental Workout,” 2023), Berlin (“Moving Margin Research,” 2022), South Africa’s Sibikwa Arts Festival (2022), Vienna’s ImPulsTanz (2022), Sweden’s Assitej Children’s Festival, Mali’s Eco Fest (2020), Germany’s Freiburg Contact Impro Festival (2019), and Rwanda’s various festivals including the East Africa Nights of Tolerance (2017), Tuzinne Festival (2017-2018), and Ubumuntu (2018).
