On March 9, 1996, Eva is the first of three daughters born perfectly healthy with a defect in her limbs. She has no hands, no elbows, and no knees. Eva grew up in Groesbeek, near Nijmegen. There is no lack of zest for life. With her electric wheelchair she raced around, she made friends easily and keeps up well in regular education. Until she goes to high school and wants her arms and legs back at 16… But unfortunately life doesn’t work that way. She seeks help and therefore comes in touch with grief: she lacks something (physically: her arms and legs) and she will never get them back. This has been a recurring theme over the years. She finds out that the world is not going to adapt to her and that is why she teaches herself to dance with the bureaucratic systems and knows how to keep control in creative ways. She also discovers that everyone is limited in some way. You don’t have to have a physical disability to be limited. However, the trick is to ensure that you keep control yourself, because only then will you achieve your goals.
