Alberto Tardanico

Alberto Tardanico started dancing hip-hop at the age of fourteen. He worked very hard to learn the movements and was always eager to improve. On the advice of his dance teacher, he was introduced to classical ballet. Although he initially thought ballet was not for him, he soon became enthusiastic. “When I finally took a class, I was amazed by the elegance of the dance movements. I thought it was wonderful.” It was precisely the combination of different dance styles that appealed to him and motivated him to further develop as a dancer.

A year later, Alberto auditioned for the Scuola del Balletto di Toscana in Florence, where much to his own surprise, he was accepted. When he started the programme, he barely knew the basics of ballet. Determined to learn everything he could, he developed rapidly over the next four years. His drive and ambition also helped him gain a place at the National Ballet Academy in Amsterdam. At the age of nineteen, he entered the fourth year of the academy’s training. It was a challenging year, but he grew enormously, both technically and personally.

Alberto has been dancing with Introdans since August 2016. “I feel like a fish in water at Introdans. Here I’m once again learning so many new things, not only about technique but also about people, performing, you name it.” The variety in the repertoire continually gives him the opportunity to discover different sides of himself as a dancer.

Alberto also enjoys living in the Netherlands. He appreciates the open-minded mentality of the Dutch and the fact that everything is clean and tidy. The weather, however, is less to his liking. For Alberto, it is important to keep learning and discovering new things. He looks to the future with curiosity, eager to see what lies ahead.
